SELINGAAN ”TURTLE” ISLAND RESORT (1*) 🐢

Ön Pulau Selingaan Island är den största ön i en Marin National Park utanför kuststaden Sandakan på norra Malaysian Borneo (Sabah). Här finns parkens Headquarter med byggnader och här bedrivs ett Conservation Project för de skyddade arterna av Green- & Hawksbill Sea Turtles och man bedriver uppfödning samt utplantering av små baby-havssköldpaddor året-om. Chalet-Style boende i mycket enkel standard med a/c. Totalt endast 38 st bäddar på ön (maximala antalet besökare). Ön erbjuder uppfödning av havssköldpaddor, en utställning, restaurang m m. Visitors are forbidden from engaging in any of the following:
• Wander along the beach after dark. (Park Ranger will inform the guides when/where there is turtle laying eggs).
• Build campfires, shine bright torches on the beach at night or on the nesting turtle, as strong light will cause harm to the turtles.
• Disturb the turtle during the nesting process by approaching too close or crowding around her. Instead, visitors are advised to watch the nesting from a distance.
• Under no circumstances, ride on the turtle, pull her flippers, turn over turtle, jump on her or injure her physically. Such acts of abuse may have adverse effects on future nesting returns.
• Night photography is strictly forbidden on Pulau Selingan.
• Collecting any plant, animal or other living or non-living things is strictly forbidden without prior written permission from the Director of Sabah Parks. Fishing is permitted with hook and line only.

DAY 01:
SANDAKAN AIRPORT or SANDAKAN HOTEL / TURTLE ISLAND (Lunch & Dinner):

Upon arrival in Sandakan Airport, meet and you will be transferred to the jetty and board a boat for an hour to Selingan Island. The park is a safe haven for the endangered green and hawksbill turtles and gives you the rare opportunity to watch turtle landings. Selingan, the largest of the islands, houses the park’s headquarters, a turtle hatchery, tourist accommodation and basic facilities. Spend a leisurely day simply enjoying the sun, sand and sea. Later, learn more about the turtles as huge females come ashore to lay their eggs. Then help the rangers release hatchlings from their nursery. Settle down for dinner and a wonderful overnight stay on an island paradise. (Standard twin share room with attached bathroom and air-conditioning). BOAT DEPART: 09.30 HRS.

DAY 02:
TURTLE ISLAND / FREE AT LEISURE (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner):

Breakfast at the resort. Free at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Turtle Island. (Standard twin share room with attached bathroom and air-conditioning).

DAY 03:
TURTLE ISLAND / CRYTAL QUEST JETTY / SEPILOK ORANG UTAN / LUNCH / SEPILOK NATURE RESORT (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner):

After breakfast, return to Sandakan and visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre where you will have a chance to see orang utans up close in their natural habitat and also witness the feeding of the orphaned orang utans at 10.00hrs at the feeding platform by the Park rangers. Walk along the boardwalk leading to the feeding platform while enjoying the serenity of the forest reserve around you. There will be a short video presentation afterwards and lunch will be at Sepilok Nature Resort.

Return to the resort and free at leisure; enjoy the activities surrounding the resort. Dinner will be served at the resort, and afterwards proceed for a night walk back at the Sepilok Forest Reserve, where you can spot animal and listen to the jungle orchestra. Overnight at Sepilok Nature Resort. (Standard twin sharing room with air conditioning and attached bathroom).

DAY 04:
SEPILOK NATURE RESORT / FREE AT LEISURE (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner):

Wake up to the raucous calls of birds, insects and animals and greet a crisp, clean morning with a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, free at leisure. Overnight at Sepilok Nature Resort. (Standard twin sharing room with air conditioning and attached bathroom).
